Recently, I got very many questions and compliments (thanks guys!) about my hair. Even though I never do anything special with it and I actually don’t know a lot about hair or beauty in general, I figured it might be nice to do a post about summer hair care. We all know our locks need a little bit extra love during the summer months; from constant pushing through of fingers and sunglasses (especially me, I’m never without my lovely Bolle sunglasses) to salt from the sea and extra UV. So when I went to my hairdresser the other day I asked her for some tips and tricks. This is what she told me:
Use a hair mask instead of conditioner
I didn’t know this, but apparently a conditioner doesn’t really do anything for your hair, other than making it smooth on the surface. When it comes to actual moisturizing, a mask is a better idea. Use it as you would use a conditioner, leave it in for a bit and then rinse it out. Repeat this about 3 times a week and use a full hair mask once every two weeks.
Always wash your hair after a swim
If you went to the beach or the swimming pool, always wash your hair afterwards. Otherwise your hair will get damaged because of salt, sand or chlorine. Even just the sun can cause quite some wear and tear. Don’t forget that mask!
Use a warm towel
Whenever you use a hair mask, wrap a warm towel around your head. This will boost the mask’s effectiveness.
